Ansel Adams Post

Ansel Adams's story is quite impressive. He was (and very much still is) a famous Black and white landscape photographer, but he wasn't always one. He actually started out as a piano musician, and originally intended to be a professional. This is impressive, as before attending a private school which gave him the equivalent of an 8th grade education, he had no consistent schooling prior, and he made lessons take place of formal schooling afterwards. Ansel always took in interest in nature though, and he found himself walking in the dunes or along Lobos creek, or even to the edge of the American Continent. He particularly loved Yosemite, which he hiked with the Kodak No. 1 Brownie his parents had given him and took pictures. These hikes gave him a large boost in self esteem. Here he joined the Sierra Club, which was vital in his early photography career, giving him exposure. It was until 1927 that Ansel had a pivotal moment. He made his first fully visualized photograph, Monolith, The Face of Half Dome. Also in that year, he made a partner of sorts, Albert M. Bender, who propelled him to photography fame.

I chose this photo to showcase because there's a large amount of contrast between the left side of the dune and the right. The sky also adds to the contrast of the photo. There is also a good example of texture on the right side of the dune by using the shadows in the sand.

Found Panorama

I love this panorama, it's so creative. Given the fact that the camera used is extremely expensive and you have to throw it, it's also kind of a risky one. It's amazing how it gives the illusion of a small earth.

This panorama skews the view of the street so much, but it looks so nice. It gives a great view of everything, and a view of both ends of the street.

Found Faces Story

You, my good sir, are in the presence of Harold Von Bugger! Or if you do so please, you may call me Dr. Bugger. I am the most premiere physicist in all of England! In the past, I have developed very... physicy things in my day. I even made a catapult for the Queen! Since I am such a sought out person, my family lives well. My family and I live on the beautiful white-cliffed coasts of England. My two young children, Charles and Reggie, are far to adventurous for their own good. They often creep to close to the cliffs! My wife and I have to work hard to control the little youngsters, but we do enjoy the task. When I am not doing physics or wrestling with the children, I quite enjoy making pet rocks, and then hurling them into the ocean because I they never turn out right. After a long day, though, I climb down into the basement, open my secret compartment, and set to work. It is a secret this work, so much so that i was required to sound proof this secret room. For I, in secret, am an OPERA SINGER! HAHA! I SHALL RULE THE WORLD THROUGH PHYSICS AND SONG! MUAHAHAHA- ahem, sorry. Got carried away.

Favorite Picture Post

I chose this photo because not only is the scenery generally stunning, the picture follows the rule of thirds. Also, there's a story behind it. the dog had followed a group of hikers on a trek in the Himalayas, and when one woke up early to hike a peak nearby, the dog followed him, and then the picture happened.
